Interstellar

We are not alone.

This vibrant and complex new series explores the artist’s enduring curiosity about our vast cosmos. Both the physical heavens and our every-expanding internal worlds - simultaneously expanding with endless depth. There is so much to be discovered. Artists spend countless hours alone, exploring, practicing, finding new ways to express ideas and emotions. That landscape can often feel a little lonely but it can also produce a sense of being separate but not alone. We are all part of this glorious world and connected by the air we breath and the gravity that keeps us grounded.

“The work is also an exploration of new techniques, materials, methods and unexpected outcomes. As a mid-career artist of more than thirty years, it’s gratifying to experiment and allow time-tested techniques to push the boundaries. This series includes work with varnish, oil, ink, resin, acrylic and fire. Each image has between 20 and 30 layers of materials. They have a sort of internal depth and are luminously captivating.” - Flavio Galvan
